CD Projekt Red has a few projects in the works. They have a few video game projects in development, including a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. While that game had a rough launch, the studio turned things around. It has grown quite a following, with a successful anime series featured on Netflix. However, the studio also plans to bring out a live-action project.
This news came out last year, and now we’re learning about CD Projekt Red’s progress. Unfortunately, you might be disappointed that this project is not already being shopped around. Thanks to VGC, we’re learning that during an investor call, CD Projekt Red’s joint CEO Michal Nowakowski revealed that the project is still in the conceptual stage. However, the joint CEO noted that this phase has several stages.
As a result, while the team has not made its way out of this stage, it is quite further within it than it was before. So, the studio speculates that they might be at the point where they can start shopping around this time next year. But that’s as long as there are no hiccups between now and then. Of course, we don’t know much about the project. So it might be another year before we get any marketing details about what the live-action adaptation will entail or whether it’s a standalone storyline set within the IP.
In the meantime, CD Projekt Red’s Boston studio is working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, so more content is underway. Furthermore, we recently learned that The Witcher 4 has gone into full-scale production. We should likely hear more about what we can expect from the next saga of The Witcher series in the coming year. Hopefully we’ll also get a little more insight into what’s next for the Cyberpunk 2077 video game series.
