The way we enjoy video games has certainly evolved over the years. While we still enjoy playing them on native hardware, there has been a move to enjoy titles through cloud gaming. A few services were available, with Xbox Game Pass being a prominent example. This service features the ability to stream games on various devices. However, you might also be familiar with Nvidia. This company has been offering its GeForce Now service, which grants players access to their game library through its cloud streaming service.
It’s one of the more popular services out there. You can argue that streaming services for games are not as popular as native hardware, but there is certainly a market out there. That said, if you happen to use Nvidia’s GeForce Now or are considering the service, there’s a change inbound that will limit the time players can access when playing these games.
Thanks to a report from VGC, we’re learning that Nvidia has alerted followers on the GeForce Now Reddit page of what will happen in 2025. Next year, the service will implement a limit that will give players just 100 hours of gameplay per month. This is being added to both the Performance and Ultimate tiers of the service. As a quick breakdown with Performance, you’re essentially getting up to 1440p resolution, while Ultimate has access to 4K. There are some additional features to consider before deciding which tier is right for you.
Before you begin to worry, it looks like Nvidia has found that 94% of subscribers to the service don’t hit 100 hours per month, so you shouldn’t, in theory, surpass this. However, depending on your subscription tier, you can add another 15 hours of gameplay for either $2.99 or $5.99 if you hit the 100-hour cap.
Additionally, you can roll over up to 15 hours each month, so you could find yourself having about 115 hours of gameplay per month. Fortunately, this doesn’t come into play until 2025, so if you subscribe before January, this won’t affect you until 2026.
