The PlayStation 5 Pro has been highly rumored and speculated to be in the works for a long time. However, it was finally confirmed and unveiled earlier this month. Fans were not thrilled with the price point of this console, which came in at $699.99. This price tag would set quite a few buyers back and cause them to steer clear of the console. Fortunately for Sony, they managed to gain some positive reception for their console in the form of a 30th-anniversary edition.
Sony is bringing out some hardware in the color scheme of the original PlayStation console. That nostalgia play might be working, as it created a good amount of buzz about its release. The unfortunate part is that this is going to be a limited run. It’s reported that only 12,300 units of the PlayStation 5 Pro in this iconic design will be made. That run will be very limited and likely create a frenzy of online resellers. One reseller is already asking $10,000.
Thanks to a report from Dexerto, it seems that a reseller was asking $10,000 just for the attempt to purchase this upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro model. So, resellers who don’t even have the item in their possession are trying to capitalize on this hype. It’s reported that eBay removed this listing, but we’re expecting the price for these consoles to be quite a bit of money online.
Of course, you could avoid this upcharge by attempting to secure a preorder yourself. The preorders for the PlayStation 5 Pro alongside the new upcoming 30th anniversary hardware will be available on September 26, 2024. Although, just getting a preorder might be quite a hassle. That might mean some collectors would be forced to go through a reseller on something like eBay. As a result, we wish you all the best of luck!
