If you were hoping to get your hands on Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game this year, you’re out of luck! The developers over at Wētā Workshop have announced that they are delaying this game project past the 2024 calendar year. It’s all an effort to ensure that when Tales of the Shire does launch, you’ll find that the game will meet your expectations.
Taking to X, the developers unveiled that they are excited for players to take their first steps as a Hobbit in the Shire. However, to ensure that the first experience in Bywater is a memorable one, they have decided to take a little more time to work on the game. As a result, they are now aiming to launch Tales of the Shire sometime in early 2025. Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific release date to give you right now, but that will change later this month.
On September 22nd, the developers will hold a Hobbit Day Showcase. This will give you a little more insight into what to expect when you play Tales of the Shire, along with the new release date. So we can mark our 2025 calendars for its upcoming release before the month officially wraps.
With that said, if you haven’t been keeping tabs on this game, players are getting a life simulation experience. It doesn’t look like we’re getting any big grand adventures you might have expected from a Lord of the Rings game. Instead, this is all about living a cozy life as a Hobbit. Players will get dropped into the Shire, where they can build up their homes, decorate the area, and mingle with the community. Beyond that, we know that there are a variety of activities you can partake in. These include gardening, clearing ponds, fishing, and foraging.
Again, we’ll learn more about this game later in the month. But if you’re already sold on the title, you should hopefully have a way to play it. Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch platforms.
