The upcoming expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 is almost here, and as “Khaos Reigns” promises, it will bring true anarchy and darkness to the world and every other world that Havik can reach. We know that this storyline won’t just bring in new characters like Sektor and Cyrax but also build off of the multiversal storyline that the main campaign set up at the end of its tale. To that end, one of the six new characters for Season 2 is one that is both very familiar to players yet will be quite different from the version you know: Noob Saibot.
The shadow ninja is named after the two co-creators of the series, and has been a fan favorite ever since. However, in the new expansion, he’s not the OG version but a twisted version of Bi-Han, aka Sub-Zero. Much to the horror of some of his followers, he has impressed the path of chaos and anarchy, allowing himself to become a puppet in the plans of Havik. The gameplay trailer below highlights his brutal style and combo system, which will appeal to those who know his moves from the past while also intriguing others with how sneaky Noob Saibot can be.
As you’ll notice, he had multiple kinds of shadow-based attacks, including summoning a shadow clone to help him do various attacks. He can also summon portals that will drop people into the ground and then come out of the top of the stage. You can even stack those portals so that they’re trapped in a loop of sorts until you’re ready to attack again! Plus, he has all the ninja strikes you would expect from someone like him.
Yet, the trailer also ensures that the story is present within his tail, highlighting the connections he has with others, including coming face to face with his brother, and even seeing how Liu Kang doesn’t judge him for his “desires” but merely the “methods” by which he tries to enact those desires. It makes one wonder just how big a player Noob Saibot will be in bringing Havik down and whether Bi-Han will stay in this form.
Regardless, the “Khaos Reigns” expansion of Mortal Kombat 1 will bring him, Sektor, and Cyrax into the game’s roster upon release. Then, Ghostface, Conan, The Barbarian, and the T-1000 Terminator will slowly be added to the game’s roster via the Kombat Pack 2. So, if you haven’t gotten that, you’ll want to, as things are only getting bigger from here.
