It will be sad to talk about Splatoon 3 in the past tense in a few weeks, as the game has had a good impact on the Nintendo Switch ever since it launched in 2022. The game helped push the beloved shooting franchise forward while also retaining the fun and charm that the original two games had. However, the end is definitely near, as the game is prepping for the “Grand Festival,” which will bring back all three idol groups from the trilogy and set forth on the path to the next title by having fans choose between the “Past, Present and Future” in the final Splatfest.
However, before that all drops, there are some special items that you can get in the meantime. In today’s case, the special Amiibo for the Squid Sisters and Off The Hook are available now for purchase! As you’ll see via the two special videos below, the Amiibo are the “alternate” forms of the characters via the various stories and DLC they were a part of. By scanning them to your Switch controller, you’ll not only unlock special gear related to the characters, but you’ll get the chance to take a picture with them! Be sure to smile and look cool when you do it!
This may seem like a simple way to help celebrate the series before its third title comes to a close, but the Amiibo crowd is incredibly passionate, and that’s saying something. Plus, since we don’t know when the next entry in the franchise will be, it’s fair to assume that fans will want to get these items as keepsakes since content for the game itself will be incredibly scarce until the fourth title arrives.
For those unaware of what’s happening next in Splatoon 3, the end is coming, and they’re doing special events to help celebrate it. For example, the presumed final Big Run will take place tomorrow and will be tied to the Grand Festival by having players fight in the area that the festival itself will be held in. Doing this brings players to the table to “fight for the ending” because if the Splatlands are invaded before the Grand Festival happens, well, that would be bad, wouldn’t it?
Then, the following weekend is the final Splatfest, which means that all meaningful content for the title will end once the Splatfest is over. You’ll still be able to play the game, but there won’t be Big Runs, Splatfests, or other special events until the next entry comes.
