God of War is a massive franchise for Sony PlayStation, and we don’t see that going away anytime soon. But the developers behind this game franchise might be spreading their wings a bit. A few projects from Sony’s Santa Monica Studio might be in the works, but we imagine not all are connected to the beloved IP. Of course, this is nothing officially confirmed, but this latest report surfacing online potentially gives some insight into what is going on over the studio.
Thanks to a report from PSU, we’re discovering today that a senior manager for Sony’s Santa Monica Studio has made an interesting remark on their LinkedIn page. The employee, Albertina Chu, reportedly noted that they are working with a team on several unannounced titles. There’s no specific number of games being worked on, but it does seem like there are quite a few for the team of over 200 internal developers.
Now, we don’t know if these are entirely new franchises or if there are some new installments to already-established IPs. However, it wasn’t too long ago that we reported on another story on Sony’s Santa Monica Studio was developing a completely new IP. So, there should be some exciting content coming out from this studio, likely for both fans of the God of War franchise and those keen to see something different from this iconic studio.
Regardless, it might be a good while before we see what Sony Santa Monica Studio brings out into the marketplace next. Their latest release into the marketplace developed by the team was 2022’s God of War Ragnarok, which is available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 right now. Meanwhile, those on PC are in luck. PC players will soon see the game released a little bit later this month on September 19, 2024.
