Earlier this month, Pearl Abyss announced that a playable demo of the upcoming open-world action-adventure game Crimson Desert will be available to play at Gamescom 2024 from August 21 until August 25. The developer has now posted a seven-minute-long gameplay video highlighting the White Horn boss battle which will appear in the demo build.

“This year’s Crimson Desert demo highlights intense action-combat mechanics, featuring Kliff as the player character,” the developer said. “The demo begins on a fierce battlefield with the Greymane mercenaries, where players will become familiar with the basics of attacking, blocking, dodging, and special skills while facing hordes of enemies. Seamless cutscenes between battles offer a glimpse into the story of Kliff and his fellow mercenaries.”
First planned as a prequel to Black Desert Online, the game, first announced at the Game Awards 2020, has since transformed into something else entirely. The upcoming game will tell the story of mercenaries fighting for survival on the vast continent of Pywel.
“A unique feature of the game is that players can lead battles by creating their own unique combat playstyle,” Peal Abyss writes.
Despite being indefinitely delayed in 2021, Pearl Abyss announced in March 2022 that would be showing the game again soon. Crimson Desert also appeared at Gamescom 2023.
First announced in 2020, Crimson Desert does not currently have a concrete release date. It will launch for PC and unspecified consoles simultaneously worldwide in the future, with the current launch window set for Q2 2025.
