On a new episode of the Flow Games podcast, Pawel Sasko, the director of Cyberpunk 2077‘s sequel, said that The Witcher 4 is CD Projekt Red’s next big focus. Unfortunately, most of the studio’s projects are still in their early stages, and according to Sasko, they “won’t have anything to show for a while.” However, fans are asked to be patient for what may be the developer’s most incredible game yet.
Sasko claims that The Witcher 4 is “the most advanced” of CD Projekt Red’s upcoming tiles. This isn’t surprising, as in May, the studio claimed that over 400 developers were working on the game. The title will introduce a new trilogy within The Witcher universe.
Sebastian Kalemba, previously head of animation for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3, will be the director for the new saga.
“I’m directing the new Witcher saga. Since joining CD Projekt Red, I believe nothing is impossible, and raising the bar, telling emotional stories & creating worlds is what we’re here for. I’m proud to be a part of CDPR and work with such a talented and passionate team,” Kalemba previously said on X.
Released in 2015, The Witcher 3 has sold over 50 million copies, making it one of the best-selling video games ever. It holds over 200 game of the year awards, also taking home trophies for Excellence in Technical Achievement, Excellence in Visual Achievement, and Excellence in Narrative at the 2016 SXSW Gaming Awards.
In May, CD Projekt Red released The Witcher 3 REDkit, an official mod editor for the popular RPG.
