Dragon Age: The Veilguard Nightmare Difficulty Can’t Be Toggled

July 2, 2024 by Carley Garcia

Players will also have an option to fine-tune their experience.

More details have come to light regarding the difficulty levels found in the upcoming RPG Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Players looking for a challenge may enjoy Nightmare Mode, but one word of warning: this mode can’t be turned down once you begin your playthrough. Other difficulties can be changed at any time.

Additionally, the game’s Storyteller mode will give players with more interest in lore less of a tough time in battle. It will also be possible to turn off character deaths using the Unbound option, allowing players to customize their game experience fully. This includes aim assist and a way to alter the damage enemies can deal.

Earlier this month, Bioware announced the official timeline for the series. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will take place ten years after Dragon Age: Inquisition and 22 years after the Battle of Ostagar, or the start of Dragon Age: Origins.

David Gaider, the creator of the franchise, has gone on record to praise the upcoming entry.

“We see some story, and tone-wise it feels a lot darker and more Dragon Age. Like I said, trailers often need to be taken with a grain of salt, and my impression is that many fans are relieved. Which is great. The environments look amazing, full stop. To see the sprawl of Minrathous – wow. I wish we could have done this for Kirkwall or even Val Royeaux. Utterly gorgeous, sells the breadth and tone, such great work.”

In the upcoming game, players will be able to align with one of six factions which will shape their gameplay experience. Each companion will also belong to a specific faction.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released on PC and Xbox Series X/S this fall. No exact release date has been confirmed.
