The publisher of The Sims 4 and other beloved games EA has recently revealed that during its 12-month period, the publisher has net bookings of $7.43 billion dollars while still haven’t cut about 5 percent of people within the workforce team. Which is interesting to see. In the past few months, the video game industry has been suffering a lot more from layoffs and canceled games than before, which can probably only be blamed by the state of the economy at this point in time.
During this, EA has made $60 million dollars during the last fiscal year according to Proxy Statement and Game Developer. To further this information, Andrew Wilson, who is the EA CEO, pocketed $25.6 million dollars after he helped the company “key strategic and operating objectives.” He also gave “a year of continued employee satisfaction scores above industry benchmarks” and “support franchise development and success.”
With all that being said, it was further explained that EA’s other employees made quite less. A median employee within the company would have only made about $148,704. This is quite interesting as Wilson brings home quite much more than the other employees at the company.
The video game industry has been struggling this year more than ever and it is quite sad to see as many employees from all different developers and publishers of games are being laidoff left and right. For now, that is all the information we have regarding EA, but it is amazing how much money the company has recently made.
