Rumor: God Of War Ragnarok PC (And PlayStation Showcase) Is Coming Very Soon

May 29, 2024 by Ryan Parreno

We all know this port is really a matter of when.

We now have the latest rumor about God of War Ragnarok coming to PC, and it looks like we don’t have that much longer to wait.

Dealabs writer and dataminer billbil-kun made this tweet earlier today:

“Now it’s getting really closer

God of War Ragnarok port for PC will be announced very soon

And sorry, I still can’t give a precise announcement window

Don’t forget to hit the ‘Notify’ button to get my updates (>95% before the announce)”

billbil-kun quoted an earlier tweet they made from May 10, when they first revealed this port. A few days after that, billbil-kun elaborated in an article for Dealabs. They explained that Sony will actually be making the announcement of God of War Ragnarok coming to PC on their upcoming PlayStation Showcase.

The key thing to this Dealabs article was they claimed the PlayStation Showcas would happen before June. So that’s about three days left, if we add in the possibility that the Showcase arrives as soon as later today.

We also reported on Silknigth chiming in. They claimed that it’s unlikely that the port would be released soon, since their information is that it isn’t coming until the first quarter of 2025.

The thing is, we know the port is coming, and the only question is how soon it will arrive. Sony first ported Horizon Zero Dawn to PC a few years ago, as an experiment of sorts. As we found out later, their incentive to make this port was the surprising fact that their own first party games were not getting bought by PlayStation 5 owners as much as they expected.

Sony has so far scheduled their PC ports to come months or even years after the games were released on PlayStation. While some fans argue that they could be making more money if the games were released day and date, with no first party titles coming in the next few months, Sony can’t actually change their strategy yet if they wanted to.

In any case, God of War Ragnarok on PC will be one of the biggest releases of 2024 if this is when it happens. God of War is still one of Sony’s premier first party franchises, and is certainly still top of mind for many gamers. Fans who bought God of War on PC are also definitely looking forward to getting its immediate sequel on PC very soon.
