When it comes to the Splatfests of Splatoon 3, something has become rather apparent to fans over the course of the last several months. First, the Splatfest topics have been incredibly random, and many wonder what Nintendo was thinking with some of the choices that players have to make. The second is that even when there’s a topic that seems to have an “obvious answer,” that doesn’t always mean they’ll win. Case in point, there was a musical instrument, Splatfest, a while back, and the guitar didn’t win. Instead, the keyboard won. Weird. This past weekend, it was the “end of the world” in the latest Splatfest, and fans cheered when its winner was announced Sunday night.
As we noted previously, the options available to players were doing the “Same ‘Ol” until the world ended, doing everything on your “bucket list,” or trying to “save the day” so the world wouldn’t end at all. The battle was fierce, and people weren’t sure who was going to pull it off. In the end, Team Frye won and proved that doing your bucket list is truly the best thing to do when the world’s end is imminent.
The significance of this, as the tweet above highlights, is important. For those not in the know, the Splatoon 3 Splatfests have been going on since September 2022. In that time, Frye has not won many events. In fact, she hasn’t won an event in nearly 18 months! That’s quite a streak of losses! In contrast, Shiver and Big Man basically alternated victories with each topic that came up. It’s important to note that Frye multiple times had the “obvious choice” of a winner for the Splatfest, and yet, she didn’t win.
Even with the victory she got in the newest event, it wasn’t a blowout. It likely was one of the closest victories in franchise history. Fans were so emotional about Frye’s victory that they went to Twitter and posted all sorts of messages praising Frye’s win:
So, yeah, fans are happy, and they’re likely going to try and give her a winning streak so that this doesn’t end up being a one-off. It’ll all depend on what the next event is, for the record, as the Splatfests are wildly unpredictable.
However, it should be noted that the game is getting a new “Sizzle Season” on June 1st, meaning plenty of new content will be available for players to enjoy.
