This winter, a new 32-player battle royale based on the ever-popular Sonic the Hedgehog series is coming to iOS and Android devices. Sonic Rumble is being developed in collaboration with Rovio and a closed beta test will run from May 24 until May 26 with sign-ups currently available on the game’s official website.

The upcoming Sonic mobile game invites players to enter a twisted toy world created by the notorious Dr. Eggman,” an official description reads.
Players will take control of toys in each battle royale challenge, racing against each other to snag the most rings while dodging obstacles and traps. Tons of iconic characters from the series will be added to the roster and will be customizable.
Last month, the producer of the Sonic the Hedgehog films claimed that upcoming entries to the franchise would be “Avengers-level events.”
“They’re going to be these big, exciting stories that have a lot of different characters. And so what television did for us is it gave us time to go into some of the more supporting characters in depth and really build them out in cool ways,” Ascher said.
Upon its release in 2022, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 pulled in over $400 at the global box office, becoming the highest-grossing video game film in the United States until The Super Mario Bros. Movie reached theaters in 2023. The third film in the franchise is scheduled to be released on December 20, 2024 and has recently teased a trailer coming soon.
Sonic Rumble will be officially released on iOS and Android devices this winter.
