Today, Microsoft announced that the next Xbox Games Showcase would be livestreamed on June 9, 2024. The stream will air at 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST.
“This will also be our first Showcase featuring games from our portfolio of studios across Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios, in addition to titles from our third-party partners,” the website reads. According to The Verge, Microsoft has “a lot of games to show” at the event, spanning beyond 2024 and into 2025.
A new Gears of War game is expected to be revealed during the stream, and release dates for upcoming Xbox games like Avowed, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be revealed.
Additionally, a date on the Shattered Space expansion for Starfield may finally be announced. The update is currently due to be released this fall.
Immediately after, something Microsoft has dubbed the “Redacted Direct” will air. On the official website, it’s only said to be “a special deep-dive into the next installment of a beloved franchise.” Most eagle-eyed fans have already predicted that it would be related to the next entry in the Call of Duty franchise.
On June 7, Summer Game Fest will return with a live event, followed by an invite-only media and influencer event called SGF Play Days from June 8 to June 10.
During last year’s Xbox Games Showcase, fans got their first look at the Fable reboot being developed for PC and Xbox Series X/S. The first in-game trailer caused many to voice doubt on social media, claiming that it looked too good to be true. The studio has continuously reaffirmed that the footage was genuine.
