Metaphor ReFantazio is getting a big livestream event next week.
As reported by Gematsu, Atlus has announced the livestream called “ATLUS Exclusive: Metaphor: ReFantazio – April 23, 2024.” This event is dated for Japanese time, and will be live on YouTube on April 22, 2024 at 3 PM PT. Persona veteran and Metaphor ReFantazio director Katsura Hashino will be on hand for this event.
This event will run for 30 minutes, and it will share new details, as well as never before seen gameplay footage, for the title. And then, on April 23, at 4 AM PT, Atlus will hold the “ATLUS Exclusive Debut Commemoration Special – Metaphor: Stalkers Club Final.” This will be a Japanese language stream, which will have a more in depth analysis of what will be shared in the first event.
It’s not clear for now if Atlus plans to translate this event as well, but this one seems to be a live event instead of being recorded, so they may either share the information in a different form, such as through a blog post. If they do make a translation it may take some time before we get to see it.
This big reveal being planned for this month, as opposed to June, during what we now posthumously call E3 Week, seems to indicate something huge. In particular, it may mean that Metaphor ReFantaziois getting more promotion in anticipation for its pending release.
As we had reported last March, Midori found information from a Hong Kong website that Metaphor ReFantazio could be releasing on either October 11 or October 12 of this year.
She is also sure that the game is bound to arrive to the Switch 2. However, Nintendo is rumored to be delaying the announcement and release of that platform, so the game may come to all the other platforms first. For what its worth, Nintendo has yet to confirm their next console, its release date, or any other details.
Metaphor ReFantazio is the big project that Persona’s head veteran developers decided to make, as they have given over the reigns to the Persona franchise to a new generation of staff. But what makes this game special, that these developers wanted to start over? So far, we know that it will also be a turn-based RPG, and with the same flashy, engaging aesthetic that won them fans around the world in the first place.
Very soon we will find out what Metaphor’s “gimmick” exactly is, and it just might be something that changes RPGS, and video games, forever.
