Upon its release in February, the roguelike deck-building game Balatro surpassed all expectations, selling 250,000 copies in its first three days on the market and over one million copies in only one month. Fast-paced and easy to approach, it’s proven to be addictive to most dabblers, and almost two months post-release, the game is gearing up to receive its first major update.
Most notably, Balatro will be reducing ‘ante’ scaling in higher difficulty modes, making things a little easier. Jokers are also getting a new ‘Perishable’ mechanic, which disables cards marked as ‘Perishable’ after five rounds. Additionally, ‘Rental’ Jokers will give cards with the ‘Rental’ marking a $1 upfront cost along with a $3 cost each round.
Players hunting for Legendary Joker cards are also in luck—the first Legendary Jooker on any Gold Stake random seed will be one that hasn’t yet been added to your collection.
