During last year’s EVO, SNK teased attendees with artwork from an upcoming Fatal Fury title. This would be the first new title in the fighting game series since Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves was released for the Sega Dreamcast in 1999. During the SNK World Championship on Sunday, the studio premiered two new trailers for the game, titled Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
The action-packed announcement trailer teases a 2025 release, while the character trailer details some of the available fighters and their English voice actors while showing off some hard-hitting gameplay. Returning characters include Rock Howard, Terry Bogard, Tizoc, and Hotaru Futaba, while Preecha is a new addition to the lineup.
Known as Garou Densetsu, or Legend of the Hungry Wolf, in Japan, the Fatal Fury series was developed by SNK for the Neo Geo system. The first entry, Fatal Fury: King of Fighters, was released in November 1991, and also set the stage for the later The King of Fighters series of games.
The series inspired a number of anime OVAs, including Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf in 1992 and Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle in 1993. Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture followed in 1994.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be released in early 2025, though no platforms have been announced. Fans will get a chance to try the game at this year’s EVO Japan 2024, scheduled to begin in Tokyo on April 27 and running through April 29.
