The Last of Us fans are waiting for that next thrilling season to come out. Based on the hit Naughty Dog video game, HBO pulled off a very faithful adaptation. There were even areas that the production team could expand on, giving veteran fans from the game something extra to take in. However, we’ve been waiting for what this next season will entail. It won’t feature everything from the second game, as the secondary installment to the franchise is too long.
However, we know we’ll see some of the iconic characters we were first introduced to in The Last of Us Part II. Before filming began, we saw several iconic characters being cast for the next season. Those included characters like Abby and Dina. But as for some of the secondary characters in the game, we’ve been left in the dark. That is until today, thanks to a report from Variety.
A new post from the Variety website unveiled that we can attach four new cast members to this project. Those characters are all based around Abby and the Washington Liberation Front, better known as the WLF. If you played The Last of Us Part II, you’re all too familiar with this militia paramilitary group.
Today, we’re getting word that Owen, Mel, Nora, and Manny have been cast for the upcoming season. Again, if you played the game, you know all of these characters have close ties to Abby, and it’s not shocking to see that some actors are attached to them already. While some characters from that game might not appear until the third season, the little squad we’ve come to see led by Abby was a rather safe bet for appearance in the upcoming season.
The Last of Us Season 2 Cast Additions
- Danny Ramirez – Manny
- Ariela Barer – Mel
- Tati Gabrielle – Nora
- Spencer Lord – Owen
Again, if you haven’t already heard, the second season is currently being filmed right now. After the Hollywood strikes from last year pushed the production back, the currently scheduled release for the next season is sometime in 2025. However, it looks like everything is going smoothly with the filming production so far after recent comments were made by Pedro Pascal, the actor portraying Joel.
Of course, this entire production is a relief for Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann, who recently commented on the failed movie adaptation project. Apparently, the script and ideas for that film would have made for a rather horrible adaptation.
