Fortnite Crosses Over With TMNT For Special “Cowabunga” Event!

February 9, 2024 by Todd Black

Cowabunga!

One of the best things about Fortnite, and the reason that it helps itself stand out from a crowd that continually try to copy its mojo, is that it uses IPs in interesting ways beyond just doing special skins for players to wear. Sometimes, they use these characters that they’ve acquired to make entirely new modes for gamers to have fun in, for a limited time, of course. So, who got the tap to have a special mode made about them this time? That would be the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! The four radical brothers are back in the Epic Games title via the “Cowabunga” event, and they’re ready to kick some shell!

To celebrate the event, which will last until the 27th of this month, Epic Games released two trailers to showcase what fans can expect. The first is a nice cinematic trailer that you can see below. It shows all four of the turtles in action before they get ready to throwdown with their eternal nemesis, The Shredder! Check it out:

Obviously, that was just cinematics and not gameplay. However, the official Twitter handle for Fortnite dropped a gameplay trailer that highlights how different this will play from the standard game mode. After all, you’re ninjas! So you get to act like them! Check it out:

So there’s plenty to break down from the gameplay trailer. First, it’s clear that not only will you be using the various weapons of the TMNT as you would expect, but each of them have special abilities to help take down the Foot Clan. Second, the event will let you be the TMNT, Master Splinter, Shredder, and April O’Neill! So you’re going to be able to have quite the party.

Speaking of partying, you’ll get to go into the sewers to have fun with the crew and do your own thing. You can also venture into the LEGO world to have fun with the characters, or, you can jam out concert-style to rock until you can’t anymore!

When you put this all together, you have a fun event that will keep you entertained for some time. Again, this is why Epic Games is so good at making their title long-lasting. They don’t rest on their laurels, and they keep finding ways to incorporate the various franchises they get access to in fun ways so that fans keep having reasons to come back.

So what are you waiting for? Jump into the Cowabunga event and go have fun!
