Plenty of fans are eagerly awaiting new content from The Last of Us franchise. If you were hopeful that a third part of the storyline could arrive, you might be in luck. It was recently unveiled that a concept was uncovered for a new chapter, but before that news emerged, there was also interest in fleshing out a storyline featuring Tommy Miller. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen that come to fruition yet, and Neil Druckmann from Naughty Dog hopes that it could eventually come out into the marketplace in some form.
If you caught the news last week, Naughty Dog had finally released Grounded II: Making The Last of Us Part II. This documentary video follows the production of The Last of Us Part II. With two hours of footage, we get to view the start of the production all the way up to the point where the crew had to cut due to the worldwide pandemic. Fortunately, the footage was later picked back up after the pandemic to reflect on some of the moments we didn’t catch from the film. Those are incidents like the series of leaks, logistic issues to ship the game physically, and finally, launching the game into the marketplace.
However, Neil Druckmann offered a few additional comments after the video started to wrap up. One of which is a past interview that focused on comments made on Tommy Miller. Neil noted that there was a storyline idea on Tommy, and that left fans assuming that this was the fabled The Last of Us Part III concept. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, and we don’t have any insight into the storyline. It’s uncertain just how this story could come out to the public. Neil only mentions interest in bringing out that story, whether it’s through a game or even a show.
So it very well could be a story that will just unfold during HBO’s live-action series currently in production for the second season. With that said, we do know that there is potential that we’ll get another chapter following the storyline from The Last of Us Part II. This came at the conclusion of the documentary video where Neil Druckmann notes that he finally has a concept idea for what could be the groundwork for the next game.
