Resident Evil has been such an important and iconic franchise. It’s a pillar of the survival horror genre, and since the first installment was released, we’ve seen a plethora of games released. Capcom has continued to keep this franchise alive and well over the years, and lately, we’ve even seen the studio turn back towards the earlier installments. Several remakes have been released, giving veteran fans a new take on the classic games and newcomers a chance to enjoy these games with a sleek new modern take. However, it looks like several more projects are in the works for the franchise, so we will hopefully have a steady supply of games coming out into the marketplace soon.
You’re out of luck if you’re looking for something new to play for the Resident Evil franchise. We’re waiting for that next game installment to be unveiled. There are several areas that Capcom could go into next, and it seems that the studio is devoting time to going down these pathways. Those are new mainline installments, remakes, and even additional spin-off games. But we’re left waiting right now on just what exactly is in the works. According to an industry insider, Capcom has at least five games in mind, although we don’t know just how far into production any of these are.
The news comes from DuskGolem, an industry insider who has previously made comments on game franchises in the works in the past. Those being Capcom’s Resident Evil and Konami’s Silent Hill. Today, thanks to Reddit, we’re finding out that DuskGolem made a new claim that there are five games that they currently know about in development right now. One of those games claimed in the post is Resident Evil 9. This will help carry on the storyline after Resident Evil Village. If you recall, that game wrapped up the narrative for the past protagonist, Ethan. However, that game did leave on a cliffhanger featuring Chris Redfield.
Beyond that, we don’t know just what other projects are in the works. It might be a safe bet to assume that there is a remake coming for Resident Evil 5. That would be the next game after Capcom recently released Resident Evil 4. It’s worth mentioning that Resident Evil 4 has a new edition coming out. For those of you who missed out on the remake release for Resident Evil 4, a Gold Edition is coming out that comes with the base game, the Separate Ways DLC, along with the additional DLC content that was released for the game.
