Rebel Wolves might not ring an immediate bell for you. It’s a brand-new studio with no games currently available to play. However, the studio is made up of talented folks who have had their hands on some rather big RPGs. Today, the studio has finally unveiled its debut title into the marketplace, and while details are scarce, we at least have a graphic to start speculating. Check out the first image of their debut title, Dawnwalker.
Again, we wouldn’t hold it against you if you’re not familiar with Rebel Wolves. This is a new studio, but it comes from developers who parted ways from CD Projekt Red. In particular, this studio was founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the game director for The Witcher 3 and co-director of Cyberpunk 2077. Just a couple of years ago, Konrad unveiled that he was leaving CD Projekt Red to pursue his own studio and create something with more control of creative direction. Of course, since then, we know more individuals have parted from CD Projekt Red to help out with this new studio endeavor.
There’s even some funding from NetEase Games that should help get their debut title into the marketplace. But again, until today, we didn’t know just what this new RPG would entail. Now that we have a graphic, the internet is speculating we’re getting a dark fantasy RPG based around vampires. It’s a single image and a title, so there’s not too much to give away right now. At the very least, the studio is starting to market its project, and hopefully, that means more information will emerge on this upcoming title before the year wraps up.
Now, while former CD Projekt Red employees create Rebel Wolves, that doesn’t mean CD Projekt Red is hurting. They have been pushing forward with their own projects and intend to stay independent. Likewise, even though Cyberpunk 2077 had a rough launch, the studio was able to turn it around and bring out an expansion DLC that had high attach rates. Beyond that, we know another installment is coming for The Witcher fans, and even Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a sequel to the franchise. In particular, we know that Cyberpunk 2077 development has been underway at CD Projekt Red’s Boston studio location. However, it might be a good while before we get any new information from CD Projekt Red and Rebel Wolves.
