There was a ton of anticipation over Konami bringing Silent Hill back into the limelight. After years of being dormant, the mainline video game franchise is returning. Just a couple of years ago, Konami unveiled that several Silent Hill projects were in the works, including new installments and a remake. Silent Hill 2 is arguably the most cherished installment for that survival horror franchise. So fans were skeptical when it was unveiled that it would receive a remake. Now that we’re a couple of years out from that announcement, the developers behind the game feel marketing should be ramping up soon.
Since its announcement that Bloober Team is taking on the remake of Silent Hill 2, we haven’t seen much of anything revealed. There’s just one trailer so far, with fans waiting for actual gameplay footage to be unveiled. In the past, the Bloober Team revealed they could not showcase anything about the game. Instead, that job is placed on the publishers for this title, Konami. Fortunately, there was a brief mention of Silent Hill 2 during this month’s PlayStation 5 reel upload. If you didn’t catch it, the PlayStation YouTube channel uploaded a video highlighting several video games that were slated to launch within the year. Included in that compilation were snippets of the remake announcement trailer.
Today, the publication Bankier.pl spoke with the president of Bloober Team Piotr Babieno. Translated through Google, we’re finding out that the president noted that they believe marketing will be happening soon from Konami. It also appears that there is not much of a crew left on the game as the Bloober Team’s next project is already in an advanced production stage. Piotr unveiled that we should make announcements on that project, among other notable reveals from the Bloober Team. That’s outside of the announcements Konami has likely planned for Silent Hill 2.
Fans are eager to see more of this Silent Hill 2 remake. We know remakes can be incredibly successful. After all, we can look at Capcom’s line of Resident Evil remakes as examples. However, just how well Bloober Team modernized Silent Hill 2 remains a mystery. We’re certainly hopeful that this game delivers in a big way, especially considering the long gap Silent Hill fans had to endure for a new proper video game. In the meantime, you can view the announcement trailer for Silent Hill 2 in the video we have embedded below.
