The Last of Us Fails To Win A Golden Globe

January 8, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Let’s see how it does when season two drops.

Plenty of excitement has built up around The Last of Us as we start off 2024. We had the big HBO live-action adaptation last year, which probably sparked a good amount of fan resurgence for the IP. However, we have The Last of Us Part II Remastered this year in the marketplace. This will arrive later in the month and might cause fans to pick the game up again or try the sequel for the first time. With that said, some fans might have waited to see if The Last of Us would take home any notable awards from the Golden Globes yesterday evening.

Not long ago, we got word that The Last of Us was nominated for a few awards. This was big news as it was the first time a series adapted from a video game franchise was nominated. It’s unsurprising because of how massive the show became when it first aired to the masses. But with that said, we knew that there were three awards this series was nominated. Those awards were for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series Drama, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series Drama, and Best Drama Television Series.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like The Last of Us was able to win out on any of these three categories. Instead, all three categories were won by another television series called Succession. It might be a bummer for fans of The Last of Us, but again, getting nominated is quite an accomplishment. We’ll just have to wait and see how well the series does when the second season hits the HBO network.

I’m sure you already caught the show, but if not, the series adapted the first game The Last of Us. It was such a big hit that during the airing of the first season, HBO went ahead and gave the approval to start working on the second season. We knew this next season wouldn’t be able to run the entire storyline from The Last of Us Part II. It’s been said this is too big of a game to contain in a single season, so we should see a third season.

Currently, the next season for The Last of Us won’t be available to view until sometime in 2025. That is all due to the strikes that happened last year in Hollywood. Several products were pushed back. But we do know that production will still carry on, and hopefully, we’ll get the second season debut date before this year wraps up.
