There’s no shortage of rumors and speculation about what Grand Theft Auto VI will feature. The game was incredibly hyped up leading into December. Last month, Rockstar Games confirmed that they would have their first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI this month. As we approached December, it was eventually confirmed that the trailer would arrive today at 9 AM EST. However, that didn’t happen, as last night, we saw the trailer leak out online. Rockstar Games eventually decided to drop the trailer early so that everyone could enjoy the content without fighting a losing battle of scrubbing the internet from the leaked trailer.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set in Vice City, and the trailer so far has showcased a wide range of different environments we will be exploring. We’ve also seen plenty of reports prior to the trailer release that this game map will be massive. So, while we might have a far larger map than what we received in Grand Theft Auto V, it could be restricted. There might be a reason why you won’t get to explore the world right out of the gate. Fans have taken notice that one of our main protagonists, Lucia, has an ankle monitor, which she already looks to be getting out of prison from the marketing footage. Some fans speculate that this will help restrict players from getting to explore the map initially.
If that’s the case, then it might be narrative-related to when players are able to reach new areas of the map. Of course, this is not confirmed as we’re not even sure just how large of a map we’ll be getting in Grand Theft Auto VI. Instead, the first trailer just offered some of the environments and NPCs we’ll see in the game. Perhaps the next trailer reveal will help set the story up and confirm whether Lucia will be starting this game up with a constant threat of police presence if she’s not careful where she roams.
Of course, we might be waiting a good while before we get any indication as to what is in store for players in Grand Theft Auto VI. The first trailer did confirm that the title won’t be available until 2025. That means we might go through 2024 without much insight into what the next game installment will feature. Then there’s always the chance we’ll see this game get pushed even further back. But for now, we can continue dissecting this first trailer to see what other tidbits of information are hidden away for players to uncover.
