Capcom Is Finally Showing Dragon’s Dogma 2 At The End Of This Month

November 17, 2023 by Ryan Parreno

Capcom really hasn’t told us enough about this game until now.

Capcom is finally ready to reveal Dragon’s Dogma 2 to the world.

As reported by Video Games Chronicle, Capcom has announced a Dragon’s Dogma 2 showcase this November 28, 2023. It will commence on 1 PM PT , and will feature, in Capcom’s words, “brand new gameplay reveals in an info-packed 15 minute livestream, directly from director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi”.

With this announcement, Capcom seems to have confirmed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the major title that they have teased they still have yet to release before the end of this financial year. That also means, even without the date announced yet, that we know it will release before that financial year. That falls on March 31, 2023. So, in other words, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is releasing sometime between November 28, 2023, and Q1 2024.

We did somewhat expect that Capcom would be sharing something soon. Saudi Arabia’s regulator recently rated the game for 18 and above. We usually see ratings when a game is being prepared for release.

The announcement could not be more timely, as Capcom hasn’t really shared enough about Dragon’s Dogma 2 for us to know what it is about. Very recently, Itsuno and Hirabayashi tried to explain the experience of playing through what looked like a scripted event, but was actually something that emerged from the game’s systems on its own.

That did seem hard to explain, but that’s partly because we just don’t know enough about Dragon’s Dogma 2 in general. It’s not like we have not seen games with emergent systems before; this is of course a highlight of many open world games from many companies. But Dragon’s Dogma 2 seems to be operating on a different level, at least based on how its developers have described it.

In fact, just last September, Itsuno and Hirabayashi said that Dragon’s Dogma 2 would be doing things that the original game was not able to pull off. That could be interpreted as Capcom’s producers simply acknowledging the improvements in technology as time passes. But it may also be the case that there are aspects of Dragon’s Dogma’s original vision that just could not be executed in the first game. So this is their opportunity to try those things out now.

Without a doubt, there is a lot to look forward to with Dragon’s Dogma 2 and with Capcom’s showcase.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be released on PC and consoles.
