Silent Hill 2 Remake Leaked Achievements Have Been Removed

October 11, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

In my restless dreams, I see those achievements.

Fans of the Silent Hill franchise have waited for what felt like an eternity for Konami to recognize their survival horror franchise. Since Hideo Kojima split from the company and Silent Hills was killed off, we were left with nothing more than hope for the franchise’s return. After years of events that came and went without a mention of the IP, things finally turned around last year. Konami released a video highlighting that Silent Hill was coming back, and several projects were coming out based around the IP. Included in that batch of titles was a remake of Silent Hill 2.

Silent Hill 2 is arguably the biggest installment for the franchise. Fans quickly took up with the game when it initially launched in 2001 for the PlayStation 2. It’s also a game installment that continues to inspire developers with their own takes on a survival horror release. So, finding out that a remake was coming had plenty of fans excited and reserved about how the remake might turn out. Furthermore, we learned that the remake was coming out from the development team, Bloober Team. This would be their first big AAA title, so quite a bit of pressure is likely on the studio to hit this one out of the park.

It was recently that leaked achievements emerged online for the game. According to Steam, it looked like players would find that this title would contain twelve achievements to unlock. Unfortunately, the titles and descriptions of these achievements were unavailable. So, we have no real idea how hard some of these achievements might have been to acquire. Furthermore, it might have unveiled some of the expected narrative moments. After all, we know that while the studio is sticking to the source material, there were reports of this game being bigger.

If that’s the case, there could be new areas, expanded storylines, additional challenges, and puzzles. However, we have to wait for the game to launch before we know how much has changed or added compared to the original installment. Regardless, the achievements have since been removed from Steam. It might have been too late as fans quickly spread the news of the Silent Hill 2 remake containing just twelve achievements.

In the meantime, we’re also left waiting on just when we’ll get our hands on Silent Hill 2. The remake is in development and was announced in October of 2022. However, we have yet to see anything new from the Bloober Team or Konami. That said, we know that when Silent Hill 2 is released, we can expect the game on both the PlayStation 5 and PC. If you’re in need of something new for the Silent Hill franchise, there is Silent Hill: Ascensions, which is set to debut later this month.
