UPDATE
Have you faced this bug yet? Do you know someone else who has? What other bugs are mucking up the game for you? Let us know below!
ORIGINAL STORY
If we’re being a bit blunt here, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet could’ve been one of the best titles in the pocket monsters franchise had it not been for the various bugs that held it back. While the titles sold over 10 million units in its first three days and continues to sell well even now, The Pokemon Company dropped the ball regarding the QA testing and trying to make the game as smooth as possible. Ever since launch, they’ve claimed that they were going to work hard to get all the big bugs out, and yet, they keep failing.
The latest example of this comes via its new update of 2.0.1. Just as bad, the game-breaking bug appears during the final boss fight! For those who don’t recall, after you learn the truth about the professors within Area Zero, you have to fight the “Paradise Protection Protocol,” which means you need to fight a fully amped Koraidon or Miraidon with your party. It’s no small feat on its own, given how strong they are. But, as the tweet below shows, if you go into the fight with a fully loaded party and then you hover over the 4th-6th members of said party, the game will crash!
Yeah, that’s not a good bug to have, and it would frustrate players to no end because not only would that mean you have to start over, but you’ll have to be careful not to trip the bug again! Apparently, the “workaround” is that you go into the fight with only three Pokemon. But if you don’t have a strong enough team to beat the legendary Pokemon, you’re just shooting yourself in the foot to avoid a bug!
Given the importance of this boss fight, we wouldn’t be surprised if The Pokemon Company makes an emergency hotfix to get it adjusted so it won’t happen again. Then again, we’ve been wrong before.
It also should be noted that the new DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has also had plenty of bugs since its launch. While none of them have been game-breaking, it has further raised questions about why The Pokemon Company released the DLC in this state. That goes double when you consider that many of the bugs within the DLC are the same ones that were in the main title and were thus called out by fans.
Stay tuned for the developer’s update so you’ll know when this bug is fixed.
