One of the biggest highlights from Insomniac Games’ dive into the realm of Spider-Man was that they made it clear rather early that both Peter Parker and Miles Morales were part of this universe. Ever since the latter’s introduction in Marvel Comics, he’s become a very popular character, so much so that he got a spinoff game on the PS5 and will be a co-main character in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 when it releases next month. But the voice actor behind Peter Parker feels that “another Miles” could enter their universe. One from a movie you might know.
This notion came from an interview with ComicBook.com, which you can see below. Yuri Lowenthal, who voices Peter Parker once again in the upcoming title, was asked about his crossover in Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse and whether he’d be up for a reversal happening where that film Miles Morales comes into the Insomniac Games universe. He seemed rather up for it by noting:
“God, I hope so. Again, surprises, even for me. They don’t tell me all the stuff that’s in the game. Mostly, just because I don’t need it to do my job. So I don’t know to be honest. I hope. I’m hoping just like everyone else. I was so excited that they included my Spider-Man in the movie. I think it would only be fair. So, I would hope going forward that there’s more crossover.”
Now, on one hand, this could just be seen as “fanboy wishing,” and that’s something we’ve seen across many media over the years. However, the Insomniac Games Spider-Man has been used in official Marvel Comics material, including a new crossover series that just debuted. Plus, the Spider-Verse is easily one of the best properties Marvel has to tap into right now.
So, if Insomniac Games were to make a third entry in its superhero saga, the multiverse is something that could be up for grabs. Traditionally, the Spider-Verse usually features Peter meeting other versions of himself. Miles has only met a few “other versions” of himself across the entire Spider-Verse, so this could open a lot of potential doors. Not the least is seeing these two very different versions of Miles from the animated movies and the game universe trying to relate to one another, see what’s different in each other’s lives, and whether they can get along.
But before any of that can happen, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will debut on PS5 on October 20th.
