There is a major update coming to Cyberpunk 2077. The big 2.0 update is said to deliver several big revamps and changes to the game. This update also prepares players for the one and only expansion being released for Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty. However, if you’re planning to enjoy the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update on PC, it’s best to make sure you’re installing this game on an SSD. Today, a new tweet from the development team confirmed HDDs are not being supported.
It’s not too surprising that SSDs are the focus here. We’ve seen other games released lately that are intended on SSDs. Likewise, if you’re gaming on a PC, then chances are you’ve had that SSD upgrade a long time ago. However, if you’re still chugging along with an HDD, you might be forced into upgrading. That is if you plan to play through Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.0 update or the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC. You might even be surprised by how much faster things will load for your PC when you upgrade to an SSD. So this might be an all-around win for PC owners who are making the upgrade to the new standard when it comes to storage drives.
Of course, if you need a refresher on the system requirements, you’re in luck. Alongside the post from the CD Projekt Red support account on X, we do have a graphic to highlight the system requirements. This graphic is listed for Phantom Liberty, but you can expect the same requirements for those who are just interested in the 2.0 update. Likewise, the graphic is rather detailed. You’ll get a look all the way from minimum system requirements to maxing everything out. There’s also an expected FPS for these settings, which I’m sure PC players will appreciate.
Again, this 2.0 update is going to make several revamps to the gameplay experience. The game should feel like a fresh new experience. As a result, CD Projekt Red also stated that its best players start with a fresh new game save when going through Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.0 update. Unfortunately, fans of the game on last-generation hardware will be left out. Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, much like the upcoming expansion Phantom Liberty, will only be launching on the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. While we are gearing up to enjoy the 2.0 update, those who are interested in the next major storyline coming to the game with Phantom Liberty will want to mark down their calendars. Phantom Liberty will be released on September 26, 2023.
