Cyberpunk 2077 was a massively anticipated release, and it had fans worldwide counting down the days and dealing with the delays until they could get their hands on the game. Unfortunately, as you know, the game was not in great shape upon release. A slew of bugs and technical issues made the game unplayable for some players. Fortunately, the development studio returned and made a wide range of adjustments to ensure the game plays and handles to their expectations. Now fans are getting ready for its only expansion release, and today, we’re discovering a warning to PC players.
If you plan to pick up Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, you might want to check your CPU. A developer from CD Projekt Red, Filip Pierscinski, took to X and alerted followers that there could be a heat issue. Filip went on to state that you will want to check the workload on the CPU, which 90% on 8 core is expected. To get a better idea, you might want to run Cinebench or a similar piece of software to check the stability of your systems. That might be a bit of a stress-inducing post to read if you’ve been waiting on the expansion.
We know Phantom Liberty is coming later this month, so it might mean making some necessary upgrades for some. Otherwise, you could wait for reviews and reports to show up, offering more insight into any hardware issues. Of course, with how bad of a launch Cyberpunk 2077 had, some might be opting to wait for the game to launch just to ensure it’s free from any significant issues preventing players from even getting to experience the gameplay. At any rate, we might find a test here shortly for the game and your personal gaming rig.
Before Phantom Liberty launches, we are expecting the big 2.0 update. This update is coming for free on the base game, and it revamps several mechanics and systems. It should feel like a fresh new gameplay experience if you haven’t played the game in a while. That should help offer some insight into how your PC can handle Phantom Liberty. Unfortunately, much like Phantom Liberty, this big 2.0 update is only slated to launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
In the meantime, if you haven’t checked out a trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, you can view one below. This expansion will add a brand new area into Night City called Dogtown while the narrative is set to take place midway into the base game campaign. Players will get to enjoy this expansion on September 26, 2023.
