Fallout TV Series Gets Release Window and Setting

August 23, 2023 by Todd Black

But has war still not changed?

There were plenty of announcements at Gamescom Opening Night yesterday, but not all were in front of the camera. While “Opening Night Live” showcased many things, some companies decided to take things behind closed doors to show off more without getting audience reactions. Bethesda was one such company, as they not only did an extra showing of their upcoming title, but they also showed a smaller teaser for their Fallout TV series coming to Amazon Prime. While the teaser isn’t going to be shown online, Amazon Prime released a poster and tweet confirming the show would arrive in 2024 and be set in Los Angeles.

However, while the teaser won’t hit the airways, there is some good news. Bethesda’s Todd Howard told people at the showing that there would be more glimpses of the adaptation “soon,” and the people who were there got to explain what they saw online.

According to GamesRadar, one of the more impressive shots featured the Brotherhood of Steel. This group is easily one of the most iconic parts of the Fallout universe, and just about everyone who plays the games can recognize one of their helmets on sight. In the teaser, we see a large group of them, and their suits are apparently incredibly detailed.

The teaser also references classic parts of the franchise, such as the protagonist shielding their eyes from the sun after they exit their vault. A mutant in a cowboy hat also showed that the series won’t shy away from such characters.

Howard also noted that the teaser was a “very early look” at what’s going on, so there needs to be more work done before a full trailer is shown.

Given the scope and sci-fi nature of the Fallout franchise, it makes sense that Howard, Bethesda, and even Amazon Prime would want to wait for everything to “fall into place” before showing it off to the world. This iconic franchise has an equally iconic visual style, and it needs to be shown off correctly.

Not to mention, there are plenty of good video game adaptations in recent times that have shown off their wacky and gritty worlds with incredible detail. If Amazon Prime couldn’t do it with one of the most fan-beloved franchises out there, it would leave a bad taste in their mouths.

Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the post-apocalyptic Los Angeles adventures Bethesda and Amazon are crafting soon. But how soon? We can’t say.
