DC Universe Online Is Headed To Next-Gen Systems This Holiday!

August 15, 2023 by Todd Black

When everyone is super…well, then everyone is super!

It’s fair to say that MMORPGs aren’t as praised as they were back in the day. While some “standouts” and “veterans” are still out there, you need to be something special to survive in the current gaming market, where gamers don’t want to put years of their lives into a single title that is mostly about grinding for new levels. One of the key exceptions to that fear is DC Universe Online. The superhero-themed title has been going strong for over a decade and isn’t showing signs of slowing down. Case in point, the team behind the game has announced that it’s coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S!

The reveal came via the game’s official website, and they noted the PS5/Xbox X/S version would arrive this holiday:

“DCUO is headed to the latest generation of consoles with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X this holiday season! Along with the performance gains found playing natively on the latest and greatest hardware, the team is also working on gameplay and quality of life improvements to match. This initiative is a long-term endeavor that is already underway. You will see some of these improvements launch over the next few months prior to release on the new consoles, some of them at launch, and some of them following over the course of next year. Stay tuned for a future update with more information.”

If you’ve already been a longtime player of the MMO, you’ll be happy to know that the next-gen console versions will feature the same servers as other versions. Thus, you’ll be able to make a smooth transition and not lose your character or the ability to play with people you already have a good alliance with.

To those who don’t know about DC Universe Online or could never play it before, the MMORPG is a unique title that balances original gameplay with plenty of familiarity. By that, we speak of how the game starts with you creating a hero or villain character and then being thrust into the DC Universe alongside its greatest characters.

As you level up, you can work with legendary heroes and villains and complete epic story missions that reflect some of the brand’s biggest comics. Naturally, you can team up with other characters to do bigger missions, so you’ll have plenty to do once you jump in.

So if you’ve been waiting for a chance to join in the fun, you won’t have to wait much longer.
