Final Fantasy XVI Post-Launch Content Could Be Coming Soon

July 24, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

A new survey is asking fans what they would like next.

The latest installment to the long-running RPG franchise is here. Final Fantasy XVI had released last month, so chances are if you had picked this game up at launch, you’re likely already done with the campaign. That doesn’t mean you can’t pick it back up and go through the narrative once more on a harder difficulty. But if you’re desiring something new and a bit more content within this fantasy world Square Enix crafted for players, then you might be in luck. We haven’t heard anything officially regarding DLC, but a new survey gauges what players would like to enjoy next.

Square Enix is reaching out to some players within Japan that went through Final Fantasy XVI. According to a report by PSU, the focus was to understand what players would like next. This is to further improve the development and services the development team provides. But those seeking more content might further help the team with the type of content you’re actually after. DLC, as mentioned, wasn’t officially revealed yet, and we were not given any insight as to what might be coming after the game launched. Post-launch content is nothing new within the video game industry, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see Square Enix pull something out for this game.

In fact, it wasn’t too long ago that the press brought up DLC to Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida. At the time, Naoki didn’t have anything to say, but he was hopeful that we could get into this soon. So right now, it’s a waiting game to see what might be coming out for this title. Furthermore, surveys are likely to go out to other markets outside of Japan eventually. So after these surveys are completed and the development team has had time to go through them, we might finally get a peek into what’s next from Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI.

Meanwhile, those on PC are just hopeful of getting a heads up regarding just when Final Fantasy XVI is finally getting into the marketplace for their platform. Final Fantasy XVI launched on PlayStation 5, and we knew that this game was optimized for the PS5 hardware. So a PC port would take quite a while to bring out. However, if the team is devoted to bringing out DLC, that PC port might have just been pushed back even further. Again, Final Fantasy XVI is out right now for you to enjoy. If you haven’t already given the game a chance, then check out our Before You Buy coverage down below.
