New images are going around suggesting that Sony will be releasing a PlayStation 5 bundle built entirely around PlayStation Plus.
Zuby_Tech on Twitter had already revealed a PlayStation 5 bundle a few days before release, so this new reveal is also credible. We can’t vouch for it 100 % but if you are in the market for a new PlayStation 5 right now, you will want to read about this before buying.
Zuby_Tech shares images of a new package for a PlayStation 5 with one DualSense controller. There are no decorative motifs or colors for either console or controller, but the big news is in the packaging itself.
The front and back of the box feature the PlayStation Plus logo and language. While the images are low resolution, they appear to indicate that the bundle comes with 24 months of PlayStation Plus Premium.
Easier to spot is the yellow USK 6 + age rating at the bottom of the box. The USK is Germany’s age rating system, and 6 + indicates that the console is rated suitable for ages 6 and above.
That rating may hint at something else, which is that this bundle is intended for Germany, perhaps other EU countries and regions. It might not be something for the US market.
It was only last year when Sony raised the price of the PlayStation 5 console in the EU market by 10 %. This includes Germany. They did a similar price hike in Australia, Canada, Mexico, UK, China, and even their native Japan.
These are all lucrative markets, of course, but none of them are as big as the American market. That’s partly because many retailers outside America resell consoles and games they buy out of America, and gamers outside the major regions themselves buy these American consoles and use US accounts. But of course, we cannot underestimate how much America consumes video games on their own.
America didn’t get that price hike, and Sony explained that the global conditions of the market are the reasons for the price changes in other regions. But now that Sony has a better grip on supply, they may be able to make other offers to entice more consumers outside America to buy PlayStation 5 consoles.
This Reuters report from last August cites American consumer spending as the reason the global economy has averted a financial disaster. Spending would be good for the global economy from other rich countries as well, and that includes precisely these gaming countries and regions that could be getting this new PlayStation Plus bundle.
