Here’s Your Last Chance To Purchase Friday The 13th: The Game

June 8, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

The game will be delisted this year.

We have seen several video games released over the years based on horror franchises. These asymmetrical multiplayer titles mainly play out the same as well. For instance, one of these previously released games was Friday the 13th: The Game. Based on the horror franchise of the same name, the game follows a group of survivors trapped in an environment while being hunted down by Jason Voorhees. Players would either take the role of Jason and try to hunt the players down or be a survivor and work together as they complete objectives to lead to their escape eventually.

Of course, the game didn’t have a long history as licensing issues arose with series co-creator Victor Miller. Despite having a fan base that was logging in and enjoying the game, the licensing issues were forced to shut the game servers down. Now fortunately for fans, the game was still accessible with players who would connect together through peer-to-peer matchmaking. It might have a smaller community now, thanks to the licensing issues that shut the servers down, but it’s now facing another obstacle. It looks like the game will soon be delisted.

A new tweet was sent out by the official Friday The 13th: The Game Twitter account, which noted that the game is soon facing license expiration. That will result in the game being delisted and no longer available for sale. So you won’t see it available in either physical or digital format on December 31, 2023. So you still have time this year to acquire a copy of the game and find the title dropping in price. Players who purchase the game will find that the base game will only cost them $4.99. Meanwhile, the digital DLC released will be dropped to $0.99 each.

Furthermore, it’s noted that the game will continue to function through at least December 31, 2024. So you’ll still have time to enjoy the game. Meanwhile, players that are wanting a similar experience that won’t be restricted due to licensing issues might want to check out publishers Gun Interactive’s latest game in the works. Working with developers Sumo Digital, a similar gameplay experience is coming out in the form of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking for more insight into what the game offers, we do have a Before You Buy video coverage of the title. You can view our impressions of the game when it was first released into the marketplace in the video we have embedded below.
