There is a ton of hype built up this week. We have Summer Game Fest tomorrow, which will bring out plenty of exciting new video game announcements. Then starting this Sunday will be the Xbox Games Showcase, with a new deep dive on Bethesda’s Starfield following afterward. So naturally, there is a ton of speculation and supposed leaks of what we can expect to see show up at these presentations.
For Xbox, in particular, the showcase has been rumored to feature a new look into Fable. Playground Games has been working on this title for a good while, and over the years, it’s remained quietly behind closed doors. We haven’t seen anything new pop up on the franchise reboot, but there was speculation that we would see this game make an appearance during Xbox Games Showcase. Even some hints from the official Xbox social media accounts have seemingly teased the fact that we’ll get another look into Fable soon.
One industry insider that was initially firm against this game IP being present at Xbox Games Showcase was Jeff Grubb. The industry insider wasn’t keen on the idea of this game being featured during the event. However, there seems to be a change of heart. A new tweet that was released yesterday has Jeff Grubb saying he wouldn’t be surprised if Fable were at the Xbox Games Showcase.
The sudden change of Jeff’s decision doesn’t come with any new insight about what is coming. So we’re still left in the dark on any potential details about what could be showcased for the upcoming Fable game. Details for the Fable reboot don’t have any fine details either. Again, we know that the development team behind the Forza Horizon franchise, Playground Games, is developing the game and is being described as a new start for this RPG series. But again, we’ll just have to sit tight and hope that we get some kind of an announcement regarding Fable when we get the Xbox Games Showcase this Sunday.
Of course, until then, you can always check out the announcement trailer for the upcoming Fable game. The title was officially unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase in July 2020. So it might be a few years of silence for this game installment, but you’ll at least get a refresher of what the game first looked like when it made its official public announcement.
