For fans of the Diablo franchise, you might have been waiting for confirmation about what Diablo IV’s target performance might be on the console. With Diablo IV slated to launch on a variety of platforms, there might be some slight differences between some of the consoles. However, it looks like Rod Fergusson, the Diablo IV general manager, has revealed what we could see for the game on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles.
We don’t have much further to go before we can get our hands on Diablo IV. The game is set to launch this June. In fact, some of you might have already given the game a chance. It wasn’t long ago that a beta test was available, which gave some players a look into the game ahead of its release. Today, we’re finding that Rod Fergusson talked about the target performance of the Xbox Series consoles during a recent episode of Major Nelson’s Xbox Podcast.
Thanks to Pure Xbox for highlighting this conversation; we’re learning that the developers are targeting a stable 60 FPS on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. Now while both might feature 60 FPS, they won’t come at the same resolution. For those on the Xbox Series X console platform, you’ll be able to run the game at a full 4K. That’s not much of a surprise, but those on Xbox Series will have to settle with 1080p resolution. So if you’re fine with the resolution set at 1080p rather than 1440p, you can get a far smoother experience.
We’ll, of course, have to wait and see just how well these consoles handle the game at the target performance the developers are aiming for. But as mentioned, we don’t have too much longer of a wait before we can get our hands on Diablo IV. Currently, the game is set to launch on June 6, 2023. When Diablo IV launches, you’ll find it available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. While we wait a bit longer for the game to make its way out into the marketplace, you can check out a game trailer for Diablo IV in the video we have embedded above. For reference, we know that this game will take place thirty years after the events of Diablo III: Reapers of Souls, which focuses on Lilith’s return.
