Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Pictures Highlights Orange Piccolo, Teases Cell Max

January 30, 2023 by Todd Black

Behold the orange!!!

It might not seem like it, but one of the biggest video game successes of the Dragon Ball franchise is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. The sequel title not only expanded upon everything the first title did regarding embracing multiple timelines, allowing for multiple “fan matchups” that break the “canon” of the franchise and more, but it’s been expanding its content for years. That trend continued last year when the franchise returned to the movies via Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The film was not only successful, but it brought forth multiple new characters for fans to enjoy. Many have already been brought into the title.

Last November, three arrived in the “Hero Of Justice 1” content bundle. Within that were some of the villains from the movie, Gamma 1 & 2 of the Red Ribbon Army, and the movie version of Gohan in his standard form. However, we will soon get the “Hero of Justice 2” pack, and Orange Piccolo will highlight that bundle.

Piccolo has remained a staunch ally to Goku, Gohan, and the rest of the Z-Fighters for many arcs, but his power level had long since plateaued. However, in the movie, after making a wish to the dragon Shenron, he got a new power as he wished for his dormant strength to be brought to the surface. That form was powerful enough to beat Gamma 2 and hold off another enemy for a while. Some screenshots have dropped online if you want to see how Orange Piccolo looks in the game.

The reveal came from the official games Twitter handle for the franchise, and they might have accidentally dropped a reveal in the tweet while highlighting Piccolo:

Play as Orange Piccolo, fight against Gamma 2 and Cell Max in #DBXV2 in the Hero of Justice 2 pack!

New skills and customization items will be soon implemented in the game, stay tuned for more content! pic.twitter.com/lyZxmhAFLj

That’s right. Despite them not confirming it previously, Cell Max appears to be one of the other characters you’ll get in the second pack tied to the movie. Cell Max was the “final boss” of the Red Ribbon Army in the film. It was specifically designed to wipe out Goku and the rest of the Z-Fighters. However, Cell Max was unstable and went on a rampage when freed from containment. It took the combined efforts of the Gammas, Orange Piccolo, and the newly transformed Beast Gohan to put it down before it destroyed the world. As a result, many feel that Beast Gohan will be in the second pack, too.

So if you’re a fan of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, you have much to look forward to when the new pack comes out.
