We’re now only nine days away from the release of Fire Emblem Engage on Nintendo Switch. So naturally, franchise fans are chomping at the bit to get the game because they want to see what kind of experience they will get from it. Based on previous titles and reveals, it feels like a mix of the classic titles from the series’ history mixed with a certain mobile game that has made Nintendo a lot of money since its release. Either way you look at it, the title could be a great kickstart to Nintendo’s 2023, and that’s why they’re continuing to hype the game up via character introductions.
So who is the character we’re meeting today? That would be Goldmary. She’s a soldier from Elusia and the retainer to Hortensia. But the two aren’t just bound by royal bonds. The two are friends. So that’s nice to hear. As for how Goldmary is personality-wise, she’s said to be “reserved and timid,” however she does admire herself a bit. She’s also known to be forward, so be ready for that when you talk with her.
What might catch your eye, though, is her skills in battle. When you meet Goldmary she has the “Brave Hero” class. That’s not a class that many characters get in the game. They wield multiple weapons to take down enemies and break their defenses. That’s a key tactic in the series, making Goldmary infinitely valuable if you can use her properly on the battlefield.
You can check out a small video with Goldmary below, including her talking with a certain character.
One has to wonder how many more characters Fire Emblem Engage has to offer us before we’re fully caught up on the roster. We can think of a few characters that we haven’t gotten full descriptions of, and there may be one last Emblem Ring that hasn’t been detailed yet. Regardless, hearing about all these characters will surely hype up fans, making them even more eager to buy the title.
Another thing that’s helping the hype is the recent game previews. Many have praised the title for its new game mechanics and sharp looks on the Nintendo Switch. On the other hand, some have called into question the story and some characters, but that could easily be a case of preference over quality.
We’ll find out soon enough when the game releases on January 20th.
