The Division Trolls Are Doing The Unthinkable

Tom Clancy's The Division griefing glitch
Tom Clancy’s The Division
has a game breaking glitch that players are abusing to grief other players. The glitch allows them to literally block other players from progressing in the game.

The glitch involves a familiar name if you read the trophy list in advance. Faye Lau, who you have to meet up with to earn the Gain a Foothold trophy, can only be visited in the Base of Operations. The glitch comes up after you meet Faye in an in-game cutscene for the first time. You will respawn in a small room with a single door, and this is where the problem starts.

Since the servers have just been live for a few hours, the room is perpetually busy and filled with players. What some of them learn is if you just stand there in the open walkway, you can stop other players from moving to the other room. This glitch does not ruin it completely, however. Some players have figured out ways to get past griefing players in the walkway. Apparently if you make your character run into the walkway, he or she will eventually phase past the obstructing griefers and into the next room. Simply walking or trying to step back and walk in again is not going to work.

Tom Clancy’s The Division
was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Ubisoft’s servers went down upon launch, but these and other issues should be resolved in the next few days, if not within the next 24 hours.
