Take-Two Interactive has shared a tease of a major presence in this year’s E3.
CEO Strauss Zelnick did not divulge that many details in the latest investor’s meeting, but he did say the company would be at the event “in a big way.”
It is publicly known that 2K has Civilization Revolution 2 Plus, Battleborn, and Mafia 3, all slated to release later this year. Take-Two has also previously announced a new Borderlands game in development in another investor’s meeting last year, but they have been loath to share details since. Outside of these confirmed games, rumors of a special edition called Bioshock The Collection has recently resurfaced.
However, our source seems most excited for the prospect of the announcement of a new game. Specifically, a Red Dead Redemption 2 from Rockstar San Diego.
Rumors of Red Dead Redemption 2 being in development have appeared sporadically in the past few years. Just last November, a former Rockstar employee shared a tease for the game in a Reddit AMA, and a year before that, job openings at Rockstar San Diego created speculation that it was in the works. Strauss, of course, has gone out of his way to call Red Dead Redemption a permanent franchise, to assure fans the lack of news does not mean they have lost interest.
Originally released in May 2010, Red Dead Redemption is one of Rockstar’s best critically received games, aside from being a top seller. Its popularity led to development of a standalone expansion, Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare, releasing October that same year.
