A new Overwatch 2 legendary skin for Symmetra has been found in the game’s hero library. While not for sale yet it’s expected to make its way to the game soon alongside the new Reinhardt and Hanzo skins. The skin features a complete redesign of the DPS hero including a black and gold dress, matching boots, a new hairstyle, and a redesigned black and gold prosthetic arm.
There’s certainly been a lot of debate around Overwatch 2‘s store prices since Blizzard’s move away from loot boxes to the core Overwatch 2 shop and accompanying season battle pass model. With the current pricing of premium skins in the Overwatch 2 shop at 1900 Overwatch coins and players paying around $9.99 USD or £8.39 GBP per 1000 coins many are beginning to ask if the price of skins was worth the move to a free-to-play model.
Multiple players commented on the price of the skin with one saying “That Sym skin is nice, that Sym skin is not $19 nice.” Another chimed in saying “Huh, wish I could earn them reasonably” Despite the criticism the lack of change relating to store prices probably means a large number of players are purchasing the skins quietly. Still, this hasn’t stopped players from asking for a more worthwhile way to earn a substantial amount of Overwatch coins in-game.
The Art Deco Symmetra skin has also started another debate surrounding what makes a legendary skin ‘legendary.’ Some players have noted that the skin looks too similar to her default look but others have pushed back against this argument. One player argued that the criteria for a legendary skin are simply “many new assets had to be created for the outfit, not including textures/patterns.” This wouldn’t take into account the shape or silhouette of a character. There are plenty of new assets to be found in the Art Deco Symmetra skin including her new boots and hairstyle.
Only time will tell though if Overwatch 2 skins continue to be advertised at the same price or whether there’ll be a reduction.
