Bayonetta 3 Continues To Be No.1 On The Nintendo eShop

November 9, 2022 by Todd Black

“It’s good to know I’m still No.1 in your heart…”

For some video games, having a big launch in terms of sales is vital for their survival and proof of success. But, some are more than happy to be consistent in their sales over time to showcase their longevity, and that word-of-mouth is pushing their game forward in terms of sales numbers. We don’t know presently what the sales of Bayonetta 3 will be like, but the clues about the game are promising. The title came out on November 28th, and while we have gotten teases about the sales in other regions, the Nintendo eShop might provide the biggest clue, as it remains on top of specific charts.

As you can see in the tweet below, some people have been looking at the best-selling charts for the Nintendo eShop on the Switch to see how well games are doing. According to this eagle-eyed person, Bayonetta 3 has been on the top of the US charts for over ten days.

Digital sales of games have been huge on the Switch since its launch, so if a game is on the top of the digital charts for a long time, it means people are buying it in good numbers. Given that October had many big-name titles come out just before it, and this game was still able to take the top spot and keep it, that proves something.

We still can’t say how well the game is doing, but the reviews of the game were very positive. Many hailed it as the best game in the line and a perfect example of the action-packed style of play that PlatinumGames is known for.

We’ve even been getting behind-the-scenes information about the game about how it almost turned out. For example, there was a report that, at one time, the game was supposed to be more open-world in nature. But over time, it grew problematic, and Nintendo asked the dev team to rein the game back in. That lack of an open-world aesthetic didn’t hurt the review scores; hopefully, it won’t hurt sales.

There have also been teases that we might be getting DLC content for the game based on the rating from the ESRB. However, that hasn’t been confirmed by Platinum or Nintendo at present.

If we’re lucky, we’ll get to hear that Bayonetta 3 has not only done well but has also outpaced the past games’ sales. Many would say it deserves to be a best-seller.
