A major free update is now available for Valkyrie Elysium, adding some brand new content to the game. Square Enix’s recently-released fantasy action RPG is expanding already, with the major update introducing a plethora of new challenges and features for players.
Today’s free update adds a couple of new modes alongside two new difficulty levels for players to test their mettle against. Perhaps most notable is the addition of the new Hilde’s Vengeance content. This new game mode allows players to play as the Valkyrie Elysium campaign character Hilde, in an entirely new story experience. You can check out a newly-released trailer for the free update right here to get a look at what’s coming to Valkyrie Elysium.
With Hilde determined to smite anyone who stands in the way of her destructive path to the All-Father Odin, players are guaranteed to enjoy some high-intensity combat in a compelling new revenge story. This standalone mode is available from the game’s main menu and will play separately from the main game campaign.
Also heading into the action with today’s update is the Seraphic Gate dungeon, which longstanding fans of the franchise will recognise from previous Valkyrie games. As part of Valkyrie Elysium’s endgame content, this dungeon will see players face off against different waves of enemies in a beat-the-clock-style showdown. Players will work their way up through the dungeon floor by floor, with their loadout changing with each new floor of enemies they encounter. The new Hilde’s Vengeance mode and Seraphic Gate dungeon can be played after completing one of the multiple endings available in Valkyrie Elysium and are intended to test players’ skill levels and provide further challenging content in the endgame.
Two new difficulty modes for the main game will also be available from today. These are Very Hard and Valkyrie, with the former being, well, very hard and the latter being the ultimate test of strength, strategic thinking, overall skill and combat reflexes for players.
It’s worth noting that the new update will be applied automatically from today for players on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles. On PlayStation, the update isn’t too bulky and should take up just under 1GB of space. Those planning on playing the game on PC via Steam will have to wait a little longer, but the update will be ready-packaged in with the title’s upcoming Steam release on November 11.
