The Festival of Lights will shine bright on Pokemon Go starting from Friday, October 14, 2022, to Monday, October 17, 2022. Two Pokemon will make their debuts during this event: Morelull and its evolution, Shiinotic.
On top of these two new Pokemon, the Festival of Lights comes with various event bonuses. Players will get an increased chance of encountering Shiny Chinchou, two times more experience points and candy for catching Pokemon, and every Incense activated during the event will last for two hours instead of one.
Morelull is a small white Pokemon that looks like a mushroom. This Grass/Fairy Pokemon appeared for the first time in Pokemon Sun and Moon, the seventh generation of pocket monsters. It evolves into a bigger mushroom, Shiinotic, with its cute little smile and pink diaper.
Both Pokemon will join Pokemon Go for the first time with the launch of the Festival of Lights. After catching a Morelull, players will need 50 Morelull Candy to evolve it into Shiinotic.
During the Festival of Lights, some Pokemon will glow at nighttime. If you are lucky, you could encounter a Galarian Ponyta or a Togedemaru. Some Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild, such as Pikachu, Vulpix, Magnemite, Chinchou, Litwick, Litleo, Helioptile, Dedenne, and the new kid on the block, Morelull.
Using Incense will not only last two hours instead of one, but it also comes with a chance to attract a Galarian Darumaka. Besides the Pokemon that naturally appear more often during the Festival of Lights, Incenses will attract more Blitzle, Alolan Geodude, and Darumaka.
Once you catch all these Pokemon, new challenges await you in raids. Here are the Pokemon appearing in one-star and three-star raids.
One-Star Raids:
- Galarian Ponyta
- Darumaka
- Dedenne
- Morelull
Three-Star Raids:
- Alolan Raichu
- Galarian Weezing
- Mawile
- Hisuian Braviary
If you are looking for a bigger challenge, Xerneas will appear in five-star raids and Mega Manectric is waiting for you in Mega Raids.
Throughout the Festival of Lights event in Pokemon Go, Timed Research will ask you to catch specific Pokemon. If you catch’em all, you can earn the Sparkler Pose to light up a sparkler. You will also be able to get event-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop.
The Festival of Lights will last from Friday, October 14, at 10:00 am local time to Monday, October 17, at 8:00 pm local time. It is part of Pokemon Go‘s Season of Light which began on September 1, 2022, and will end on December 1, 2022. Not only can you catch the two new Pokemon, Morellul and Shiinotic, but you can also meet this season’s Legendary Pokemon, Cosmog.
Pokemon Go is available on iOS and Android. Mobile-only, because you have to walk to catch’em all!
