In what’s more than likely the most confusing teaser of the day, Hideo Kojima is back with yet another mind-boggler of a tweet for us all to decrypt. The iconic game developer has dropped another mysterious clue for fans to obsess over and attempt to decipher, as the gaming community once again asks the question; what is he actually talking about?
In his latest announcement, Kojima has tweeted a new image of what appears to be a shadowed-over face, accompanied by an equally mind-boggling caption. The image seems to be the same picture Kojima shared last month during Tokyo Game Show, which had the words “who am I?” imposed on top of the blanked-out face. Some fans are under the impression that the darkened visage belongs to none other than the actress Elle Fanning, although there’s been no official confirmation on this as yet.
Anyhow, from one cryptic tweet to another. Today, Kojima has re-shared the image, albeit without the “who am I?” lettering and simply a Kojima Productions icon that appears to depict a bridge of sorts. Kojima captioned the image with another puzzling message. “The answer to “WHO” at TGS will be in the next “WHERE,” he tweeted, which has left fans and indeed pretty much everyone else scratching their heads in confusion.
It’s worth noting though that industry journalist and presenter Geoff Keighley commented on the post with a pair of sideways-glancing eyes, which has led some to speculate that he’s possibly in on whatever big reveal is coming from Kojima. Indeed, the “WHERE” stipulated in the cryptic teaser today could be a reference to The Game Awards, which will be taking place this year on December 8. Not that long to wait to find out what exactly Kojima wants to show us, if that is the case.
Some will inevitably be wondering if this big reveal is in fact the unveiling of the much-anticipated sequel to Death Stranding, which apparently is in the works and codenamed “Ocean” if recent leaks are to be believed. Whether this is true or if Kojima has something new entirely up his sleeve, we’re just going to have to wait and see. It may be the new cloud-based game that Kojima is working on with Xbox, which was revealed by Xbox boss Phil Spencer during this summer’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. At this point, nobody really knows, but it’s certainly got people wondering either way.
Hideo Kojima definitely has a lot going on at the moment. As well as working on the new game with Microsoft, he’s also still working with Sony, as well as working on his own new podcast and working on the company’s VR capabilities, which were demonstrated during Tokyo Game Show too.
As for any further updates on new games, we’ll keep an ear to the ground for further and hopefully, less confusing reveals from Kojima.
