Koei Tecmo and EA Release the First Trailer for Wild Hearts

September 28, 2022 by John McDonald

And we’ve got a release date as well.

The still is taken from the upcoming game Wild Hearts

Today is Wednesday, which means that it’s the official reveal day of the upcoming Koei Tecmo and EA game, Wild Hearts. We brought you the news at the beginning of the week regarding this collaboration game, and we were promised a reveal trailer and a release date… and we’ve got both.

The game’s debut trailer was revealed today alongside a lot of narrative and gameplay information. First things first though, Koei Tecmo and EA have confirmed that this game, which has been dubbed a “new kind of hunting game featuring unique crafting mechanics” will be launched on February 17, 2023, and will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Origin, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Check out the trailer below for an in-depth look at Wild Hearts.

We can now finally bring you some details about where the game will be set and what it will be about – we were clutching at straws earlier in the week. Wild Hearts is set in a fantasy feudal Japan, where players must battle against giant nature-infused beasts that are called Kemono. Helping the players along the way is Karakuri, which are sophisticated mechanisms that have been crafted from lost and ancient technology.

The game itself will have players adventuring across the land of Azuma, which can be done either on their own or in a group of three in the co-op mode. The game has also been confirmed to support crossplay as well, which is a huge bonus. Along with the main missions, players will be able to take on special quests, join other hunters across the world, and conjure up some wicked battle plans. And to top it off, we have been told that the game will also feature voiceovers in English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.

People might be questioning the fact that EA is one of the head studios behind this game, as it is well known that an EA game is never a full game until you’ve purchased one of the many in-game additions. However, the inclusion of Koei Tecmo is a huge bonus for the game because of the studio’s unbridled success with the Nioh and Fire Emblem series.

The Executive Vice President of Koei Tecmo Games, Yosuke Hayashi, commented today on the upcoming game, one that some people are saying resembles the Monster Hunter series. “Wild Hearts opens up a vibrant fantasy world to players that is as untamed as it is beautiful. With Wild Hearts, not only did we want to showcase the evolution, infusion, and real threat that is caused by the Kemono, but we also wanted to create a game where crafting was the core of the experience.”

Even before we knew what Wild Hearts was about, the studios kept saying the same thing, that it would redefine the hunting genre, and as you can see from the trailer, with all these new mechanisms, it sure looks to be a pretty interesting concept. After all this talk, we can’t wait to get out hands on it when it comes out next year. Check out some stills from the game below.
