Open Beta For The Division Announced, Xbox One Players Get It Early

February 9, 2016 by Holly Green

The rumors were true, and an open beta will surface later this month just before official release.

Following the closed beta for The Division earlier this year, it was rumored at the beginning of this month that an open public beta would soon appear. Today that rumor has become reality with an Ubisoft announcement, bringing with it a new Enemy Factions trailer, which you can see above. The video covers some of the groups you’ll face as you traverse the game’s harsh, mid-disaster environment, from a band of prison escapees called the Rikers, to the Cleaners who seek to scrub the streets of disease “no matter the cost”, the turbo patriotic and iron-fisted Last Man Battalion, and of course, The Division, a noble-minded group of heroes who seek to save the city and its inhabitants.

Meet them all when the open beta goes public from February 19-21, 2016. Pre-load begins on February 16, and Xbox One players get a whole extra day with the game, beginning their beta on February 18.  The open beta will include a new story mission that was not included in the closed, so players of the previous beta will still want to get in on this one before launch day. Participating in the beta will also unlock a special reward once the full game releases.

Ubisoft has already revealed plans for the game’s DLC and season pass, which will include free updates to the base game that add new modes. The Season Pass will feature three expansions and those who purchase it will have access to an exclusive weapon as well as some outfits and weapon skins.

The Division arrives on March 8, 2016 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. If you’re signing up for the beta and are curious how much it comprises the base game, be sure to check out our post on the topic, which compares the base game map with the closed beta map.
